If a man would take me to a date, I’d rather choose the out of the ordinary. Just like mountain hiking, biking, fun run, food trip and outreach activities – Lols. Usual movie dates and theme parks are for me.. err, boring. But honestly, if a guy would take you to an art gallery for a date, wouldn’t it be extraordinary?

I’m talking about dates because recently I found an art gallery perfect for such event. The gallery I was talking about is the Pinto Art Museum in Antipolo.

This museum houses more than 300 contemporary art pieces containing both paintings and sculptures. I’m no good artist, but I love Arts (and I consider my drawing skills an art which is why) that’s why if you ever find my description on the below pictures not artsy-certified, then, ikaw na! Haha!

The place is a mix of nature and great architecture which are both pleasing to the eyes. Every corner is worth every snapshot that one would just love to put in frames. Here couples (or soon-to-be) will feel relaxed and dreaming. Yeah dreaming! Because just as you enter that wooden gate, you’ll feel like you accidentally sneaked in to a secret garden.

The garden is wide enough for a couples’ swinging-around shots OR takbuhan-with-tawanan eksena! (I got goosebumps while I’m typing this. :-/)

The first building one will see in sight is where the reception, a restaurant and a small museum are located. A map will also be given upon entry since art sections are a little far from one another. But don’t worry, couples could use that transferring time for some chit chats.

Just across the entrance building is the chapel which is a little spooky but airy. There are small cells which have different religious figures/relics that are old, weary and broken. The look suggests veeerrry old items that lasted for 50 years or more.

Going to the first gallery requires a moment of silence (but if you couples are good for each other, you’ll find connection in silence 😛 )  because the art paintings are better appreciated when you read its description. You can ask a tour guide to explain to you the background of the paintings, and it’s better than guessing.

Brass, wood, paper sculptures are all lined-up parallel to the paintings.

The gallery doesn’t just houses paintings of different canvass; it also contains collages, mosaic, stained glass and engravings. Others I can’t remember but it’s for you to find out.

The Gallery of Indigenous Art is located on another wonderfully built setting which is so airy and peaceful. Inside you’ll see different wood carvings, accessories and weaved cloth.

Food is not a problem because with all those walking in the hot afternoon, two restaurants are available in this museum. One is Café Tan-awand another is Pinto Café.

Café Tan-aw is a restaurant located in a roofdeck with a 360 degree view of the surrounding. It is only open though in the evening when the sun is down. Not sure on the meals being served though because it was still close when we came there.

The other café is Pinto Café which is in a garden setting beside the chapel. Meals served are pricey but the serving is enough. There are pizza, pasta, rice meals, fruit shakes and alcoholic beverages. Expect to shell out Php 250 and more for each order.

Overall, Pinto Art Museum is a must see destination whether for romantic dates or not because a little injection of culture and arts once in a while can keep us from sinking into modernity and monotony.
