Zombie Outbreak Experience

I never imagine in my whole life that a fun run mimicking the zombie apocalypse would happen because in one fun night, I run and conquered a 5km course infested with zombies. This is a yearly event wherein for one day, different waves of people will run for their lives while a pool of zombie is waiting for them. Each runner will have 3 flags wrapped in their waist and these flags are the target of the zombies. If you lose all 3 of them, you won’t have a special price at the end of the race, but you can still finish it.

The zombies are not meant to run after you, they are designated in places to pull your flags, most of the time, it’s a walking tour because there are no zombies.

Inflatable obstacles are also included which actually put excitement in me until I dive into that hole and feel the sandy dirt on my face. After that, I didn’t try it again.

Right after the first inflatable obstacle, I let the zombies get my flags – just because I wanted to lose that feeling of being chased after. Yeah Kill Joy. But it didn’t totally lose the fun in me because that’s our time to run like zombies and sound like them, and it was funny when you see people running before they realize we are just playing a joke. 😛

Half of the race, we just take pictures with the zombies who rocked their costume and prosthetics. Also, there are participants who run wearing costumes. We even saw a pair in Barong Tagalog. Wearing a costume also entitles you for a special price.

Most of the participants are late for their allotted wave because of the Saturday evening traffic. We were one of those who were moved to the 2nd to the last wave and ended 11PM. It was a tiring day but it was a different fun experience. Not to mention my burning head before the event because of the horrendous traffic and the difficulty to commute just to get there. I’m still lucky that I got a patient company. 😛

Until my next post,
Glens
